  • Cons: No mobile app, fees

Features

Credit Monitoring

With TransUnion Credit Monitoring, you can receive notifications on any critical adjustments to your three-bureau reports, access your free VantageScore® 3.0 credit score and TransUnion credit file, and gain education on how to analyze your credit file. In addition to identity protection capabilities such as locking your TransUnion and Equifax credit reports up to $1 million in identity theft coverage, you will be notified via email when there is an inquiry on your credit report, and you will have unlimited access to identity theft experts.

Unlimited Access To Credit Score

Credit scores, reporting, and theft protection are all provided by TransUnion. Regular alerts are sent to your email, providing you with advice on how to improve your credit score and a credit score simulation, which allows you to estimate how an expenditure or financial commitment might affect your future credit score.

Credit Check Alerts

Whenever someone checks your credit score, you will immediately be notified whether it is legitimate or fraudulent so that you can take appropriate action. For example, if you allow an application to access your credit score, you should receive an email notification.

In addition, any unplanned checks on your score may be fraudulent, and TransUnion will investigate further. This beneficial feature allows you to stop unauthorized use of your credit information to avoid fraudulent activity and the resulting damage to your credit score.

As long as you’re on active duty, you can get the Active Duty Credit Monitoring subscription, which provides unlimited access to your TransUnion credit report and email notifications of critical changes to your credit file.

Credit Simulator

Using the simulator tool, you can determine how your credit score will be affected if you apply for a new loan, or close a credit card so that you can make an informed decision.

Credit Compass

Credit Compass is a unique TransUnion subscription service that provides personalized options and recommendations on how to improve your credit score, thus helping you achieve your future financial goals, such as a mortgage, car financing, or student loan. This TransUnion review describes this feature as helping you achieve your future goals.

True Identity

With True Identity, no extra charge is attached to the theft insurance coverage as part of the credit monitoring service, which promises to lock your credit report so you can be assured your data is secure and that any unauthorized use or access is detected and investigated.

Letters

Certain financial transactions might cause a denial of credit, resulting in a free copy of your credit report. For example, if you are denied a loan or credit, you will receive an ‘adverse action’ letter. The letter must list the reason(s) for the denial. It will also inform you which credit bureau the lender used to make the decision, as well as how to get a free copy of the credit report. You will have 60 days after receiving the adverse action letter to request your free credit report. The credit bureau listed on the letter is the only one that can provide it.

Transunion Cost and Pricing Plans

By signing up with TransUnion, you gain access to your credit score and reports for $29.99 monthly. You’ll also receive updates by email alerting you to changes in your credit score and recommendations for improving it, such as lowering your debt and altering how you pay bills. The $50,000 ID theft coverage included in this monthly service is excellent for boosting your sense of security and protection for your account.

However, you are entitled to one free credit report from each of the three largest credit bureaus: TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax—as per United States law.

How To Sign Up

Signing up for a TransUnion account online is simple. You must provide personal information and verification information to establish your identity. A TransUnion Consumer Disclosure is accessible for free on the website, which provides basic information. However, credit details and reports that include your current credit score must be purchased.
